Baselworld 2008 - Unique Watch and Jewelry Show

Baselworld annually attracts more than 2 thousand exhibitors – brands, including beginners and world-famous names that specialize in watches, jewelry, gems and related areas. The exhibitors are glad to present their latest creations. The excited visitors are invited to discover an exclusive selection of products in truly luxurious surroundings. The exhibition area covers over 160,000 m2 and occupies several floors.

Baselworld gives everyone interested a fine opportunity to find a unique cross-section of products accumulated in a single place. The exhibition comprises six exhibition halls featuring clearly segmented products sectors. The exhibition is a meeting place for over 101,700 retailers and wholesalers from all over the world.

Baselworld 2008 takes place in Basel, Switzerland from April 3 – 10, 2008.

The new timepiece is the second model of the brand dedicated to polo, following the one introduced in 2007 to mark the partnership with the Saint-Tropez Polo Club. The Big Bang Polo Club Gstaad has been developed in a limited number of 250 pieces. It represents a black ceramic chronograph with the Gstaad tournament logo on its dial. It features the ‘Big Bang’ case, 44.5 mm in diameter, 100-meter water-resistant; a black ceramic bezel fitted with titanium H-shaped screws; sapphire crystal provided with double face anti-reflection treatment; reinforced black resin bezel lug and lateral inserts.

The stamped carbon dial of the Big Bang Polo Club Gstaad has vertical satin-finish in ruthenium color. It displays appliques indexes, faceted hands with luminescent features, and ruthenium-colored chronograph hands with H-shaped counterpoise. Notice the trapezoidal aperture located at 4:30 displays the date.

The Hublot Big Bang is equipped with a mechanical chronograph movement with automatic winding developed together with La Joux-Perret. It offers 42-hour power reserve. The masculinity of the watch is enhanced with an adjustable black rubber strap.

The designers of the timepiece managed to come up with the almost invisible continuity between the case and the bracelet, having fitted the first two links between the upper and lower lugs. These links ideally fit against the case-band. The new bracelet is integrated with the case as a perfect extension of it – the case and the bracelet seem to be created at the same time and designed by the same hand. The first models of Panerai Luminor were coupled with a long die-cut leather strap, so the engineers of the brand worked hard to provide the new bracelet with the remarkable ‘suppleness’ characteristic of leather.

The Panerai Luminor Marina Automatic 44 mm spotlights the classic Panerai dial with the large Arabic numerals and hour markers to guarantee exceptional visibility at night. The baton-shaped hands and the leaf hand of the small continuous seconds dial are also covered with the luminous material Supernova. The small continuous seconds dial is placed at 9 o’clock. At 3 o’clock there is a little enlarging lens for comfortable date-reading – the lens is inserted in the anti-reflective sapphire glass protecting the dial.

The Panerai watch with the solid case-construction and sophisticated strap is equipped with a COSC-chronometer-certificated automatic movement – the OP III.The Luminor Marina Automatic 44 mm is available together with a tool for replacing the strap and a steel screwdriver.

With the origin from the Land of the Setting Sun,  ‘Mogul’ today symbolises an assertive personality of power and influence.  The exceptional watch features the CENTURY sapphire case and an 18-K red gold back. Master craftsmen manually cut the sapphire and polished each of 190 facets to create a shimmering crown of golden light. The 52 diamonds are set on and around the mother-of-pearl dial. The composition is completed by red gold claws, embellished with 18 diamonds.

Porsche invited most experienced watchmakers and designers for creating an innovative watch. There appeared the Porsche Design Indicator, a futuristic chronograph with innovative features.

The initial idea of the watch belonged to Ernst F. Seyr, Eterna’s CEO. The design of the timepiece was meant to echo the design of the impressive Porsche Carrera GT. In 2001, Eterna specialists started creatingthe chronograph’s archetype.

The dial of the watch is completed with silvered hour markers. The double day-date window is found at 3 o’clock, 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock; 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock.
